Nature Biebrza

  • Although the wolf "does not like to get its paws wet", it is the extensiveness of marshlands and the sufficiency of the food that causes the appearance of about 14 wolves in the Biebrza river. Encounters with wolves, however, happen seldomly. This distrustful and careful animal leads mainly a night life. It takes a great level of expertise to read wolves’ stories - often dramatic - recorded on the sand…

  • The majestic elk - reigns irrevocably on thousands of hectares of marshlands. This humble and lazy animal is not afraid of man: when it has already smelled and heard a human being, it still must find out who troubles him with his own "blind eyes". And if anyone stands in its way, it does not deny itself the pleasure of looking straight at the inquisitive tourists. Such close encounters with…

It can be most recognizable by its voice, heard at evenings by males sitting on the tops of swamp plants. The aquatic warbler arrives…

  • Not without reason, the ruff appears on the logo of the Biebrza National Park.

It is a legendary bird, about which is known that there are no two identically-coloured males.

The dumb performance of ritual nuptial fights has attracted the attention of experienced nature observers for ages. It must be remembered, however,  that ruffs tooting on the Biebrza river are mostly migratory birds, staying here during their migration towards…
